This section covers detailed specifications, trim breakdowns, chassis codes, and production history for each Crown generation. Use the sidebar to navigate between generations and their sub-pages.
Coverage currently includes the S150 and S170 generations — more will be added over time.
| Generation | Years | Models | Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| S150 | 1995–2001 | Crown, Crown Majesta | Last hardtop generation. 1G-FE, 1JZ-GE, 2JZ-GE, 1UZ-FE V8, 2L-TE diesel |
| S170 | 1999–2007 | Crown, Crown Majesta, Crown Estate | First sedan-only Crown. 1JZ-GTE turbo Athlete V, D-4 direct injection, Estate wagon, mild hybrid |
Each generation page includes an overview with key dimensions and pricing, a full chassis code table mapping engine and drivetrain combinations, engine specs, the complete trim hierarchy, and a model ID (katashiki) reference that decodes Toyota's internal product codes.
Sub-pages break things down further by model line — trim-level feature comparisons, equipment matrices, available colors and interior options.
The Crown sedan has been built at Toyota's Motomachi Plant (元町工場) in Toyota City, Aichi since the factory opened in 1959 — the Crown was literally the first car off that line. The Crown Majesta was assembled at both Motomachi and the Tahara Plant (田原工場). Factory assignments for the Crown Estate wagon have not been confirmed yet.
